How did you get started in cow horse?
“It was a family business. My parents raised cow horses and I was just born into it.”
Who did you work for?
” I just worked at the family ranch. And my dad helped me a lot and family helped me a lot. Everybody was awesome. All the trainers I looked up to everybody was real open about going to ride with them. I got to ride with a bunch of people. There’s endless amounts of people that have helped me along the way.”
What is your most memorable moment in the sport?
“Probably the first year I won the Derby [in 2017] because it was my first major event win and it was real special. I had been working to try to win something. That was a lot of fun.”
What is your training philosophy?
“Take each horse as an individual and train them as an individual.”
What advice do you have for up and coming trainers?
“Be patient and stick it out. It’s tough. When you’re at the bottom of the mountain getting ready to climb it, it looks like it’s Mt. Everest and once you start doing it it doesn’t take very long before you’re climbing your way up the ladder.”
